writing an educational non-fiction story
When writing an educational story...
I need to avoid:
- being boring
- not having a purpose
- no end result
- no action
- impracticality of application
I need to:
- stay relevant
- stay focused on the story
- be creative - what can I do to tell my story visually, audibly, interactively?
- showcase my expertise and/or the extensive research I have done
- make it unique - add in my my writing character and flair and personal thoughts on the topic
- treat it in Writing like an instructional designer
Practical guide:
- formulate a key focus/purpose of the story
- research the topic deeply through the lens of the focus
- come up with a title and opening hook that hits home
- gather the content
- Personal experiences or anecdotes.
- Credible sources (books, research, expert quotes).
- Visual elements (diagrams, examples, or metaphors).
- consider my unique style -> Applying My Style to Content Creation+ my writing character and flair
- How to Structure Your Stories- beginning middle & end
- give them something to take home
